Laura Noland, director of nursing at Life Care Center of Seneca

Laura Noland, director of nursing at Life Care Center of Seneca, Kansas, was named Director of Nursing of the Year for Life Care Centers of America’s Central Division on April 9, 2018.

The award was presented during Life Care’s annual Directors of Nursing Meeting held at its headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee. It is given to the director of nursing in each of Life Care’s divisions who best demonstrates outstanding qualities in several areas, including customer service ratings, staff development and successful state surveys.

During the meeting, Noland was praised for her longtime commitment to the facility, starting as a licensed practical nurse in 1997 when the center was called Country View Estates. She has been director of nursing since 2002 and has led the building to several excellent state surveys, including some deficiency-free and this past year’s that earned Kansas Adult Care Executives’ Exemplary Facility Award.

“Laura leads with kindness and is dedicated to ensuring that she keeps an eye on all clinical systems within the community,” said Brian Olberding, executive director.

Olberding added, “One of Laura’s best attributes is her personal connection with staff. It is probably one of the reasons that her nursing department has such low turnover. Her demeanor, experience and insight have helped multiple staff members not only with their own lives but to achieve higher goals. Five current nurses on staff had their starts as certified nursing assistants under Laura’s tutelage.”

Noland was selected for the award from all the directors of nursing in Life Care’s Central Division, which encompasses 35 facilities in Indiana, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

“Laura is a living example of what the honorable nursing profession is all about,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “She administers her God-given talents in a spirit of love and compassion to help make the lives of others better. We’re proud of her and all of our nursing award winners.”

Life Care honored seven other division winners and a Company-wide Director of Nursing of the Year, as well as a customer service winner.
